Maharaja Ranjit Singh Armed Forces Preparatory Institute situated in Mohali Designed by the government of Punjab, this institute was established to train some selected boys from Punjab through the National Defense Academy. The training period is of 2 years, and they trained the two batches of 48 cadets at a time. All the requirements that are required to pass the NDA Exam can be fulfilled in Maharaja Ranjit Singh AFPI. If we check from the past years then from June 2013 to June 2016 there are a total of 61 candidates joined the National Defense Forces through their services. ar the Institute the student gets the Best facilities and environment. They have fully equipped classrooms including the library and the sports playground for the various sports activities.

 The procedure of Entrance

 

In the procedure of entrance exam, the Institute conducts the entrance exam in January Every year. the Exam is based on the syllabus of 10th standard Math and English. The merit list is prepared based on the written Exam. There are 150 names of students that are shortlisted for the interview process. The academy takes the interview to choose the best out of the good. The interview is conducted to check the general ability of students and their mental level. The candidates who are selected from the interview go for the medical, which is used to check the internal disabilities of the candidates. And after the medical process, the final list of the 48 candidates will be generated who are selected.

Eligibility

 

• The candidate must be the Domicile of Punjab.
• He must be studying in 10th class.
• The age of students is up to 17 years.
• Medically fit as per NDA requirements.

 Squadron

 

•    After admission to the institute, a cadet is given his squadron, ALPHA OR BRAVO, and a cadet number.

Training

 

The four major aspects of training at AFPI are:-

1. Academics - All cadets study Plus 1 and Plus 2 in the non-medical stream (Physics, Chemistry, Maths, English and Physical Education / Computer Science). For this purpose, AFPI has a contractual arrangement with Shamrocks a local school in Mohali.
2. Physical Fitness-Cadets do PT equivalent to 1st Term NDA standards (Basic Tests); 2nd Term standards (Higher tests); and 3rd Term standards (Excellence Tests). The drill is also taught at AFPI. All important games are played to include Hockey, Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Cross Country, Boxing, Lawn Tennis. Squash, Golf, and Swimming. Shooting is also taught at an indoor shooting range. Equitation training is likely to be introduced shortly.
3. Personality Development and OLQ-Leadership, Soft skills, Communication skills, the art of study, Know the armed forces, War movies, Debates, Group discussions, presentations, visit military units.
4. Preparation for the NDA entrance test and SSB Interviews.

 Squadron

•    After admission to the institute, a cadet is given his squadron, ALPHA OR BRAVO, and a cadet number.

Entrance Test

The entrance test will be conducted in two subjects viz English and Mathematics. The papers will be set from the tenth class syllabus and no separate syllabus has been laid down. Candidates studying in any of the boards ie CBSE /ICSE / PSEB may appear in the entrance test.


The question paper is objective with answers being filled up on the OMR sheet provided. Wrong answers will be awarded negative marks. Sample question papers are available on the website.

The test will be conducted in various centers in Punjab depending upon the response. Generally, the centers are at Mohali, Bhatinda, and Jalandhar.

The results of the entrance test will be uploaded on the website in the first week of Feb. The exact date will be intimated later.
